Pneuma is the energy from which souls are constructed - some scholars go as far as to call Souls a purified form of Pneuma. Regardless of whether this is true, mortals, and in fact most supernatural beings, cannot manipulate Pneuma directly, though its presence can be detected indirectly.

As souls connect to different objects and places, traces of Pneuma may be left behind, especially in the presence of strong Emotion. Such traces can coalesce over decades or centuries and give a ‘presence’ to an object or location, giving it a type of soul of its own. This process is somewhat rare though and not something that can be controlled.

Powerful Demons (and Angels) are capable of manipulating Pneuma using Faith, though this is both exceptional and highly complicated, requiring a large amount of power even for them, so in the rare cases they are willing, the price will be high.
