Huge theater in the Chicago Loop
The Balaban and Katz Chicago Theatre, is a landmark theatre located on North State Street in The Loop area of Chicago. Built in 1921, the Chicago Theatre is the flagship for the Balaban and Katz (B&K) group of theatres.
The theatre includes fourteen large romantic French-themed murals by Chicago artist Louis Grell, and includes a 50-piece orchesta, a large organ, a live stage show and a motion picture theatre, and has regular jazz performances after a highly successful special event in September 1922.
It features a plush environment, prides itself on excellent service and even uses air conditioning. Seating over 3880 people in total, it is promoted as the Wonder Theatre of the world.
