Changelog 2020-08-21

This week we worked on many improvements that have to do with Pathfinder and the Chat. As you can read below, several of those were community suggestions which we love to get!

This week's blog post is about the new Pathfinder Spell Lists, which we have have added this week after they went through an rework of the first development version.

Experiment: Chat rooms and private conversations are now always scrolled to the newest message if you switch to their tab. This is an experiment to see how we can best handle new messages in background tabs in the chat. Please tell us your experience in the Chat Room Scrolling Experiment thread!

Permissions

  • A new character sheet visibility configuration has been added to the campaign configuration. This allows you to switch character sheets from being visible publicly to being visibly only to those players that are allowed to edit the character page. This normally means only the character's player and game masters.
  • The addition of the character sheet visibility configuration comes with several minor styling and visual adjustments to take into account situations where a character sheet exists, but is not visible to you.

Pathfinder

  • (Community suggestion) Empty skills on the Pathfinder Character sheet now sort at the bottom. This matches where new empty entries are placed when the "Add skill entry..." button is used.
  • (Community suggestion) A new 'Starting Level' game system configuration option has been added, which allows you to configure the default level new characters start at. This will automatically note the required experience for the starting level in new character sheets.
  • (Community suggestion) Swapped the value and weight field locations in the game system equipment listing to match the field order in the core rulebook. This helps with entering equipment from the core rulebook and supplements.
  • (Community suggestion) Removed the quick check notices for unspecialized Craft and Profession skills. This helps keep the amount of notices down for characters that are otherwise perfectly fine.
  • Several improvements in the game system configuration to allow quicker entering of data by moving to the next field with <enter> key.
  • Added spell lists to the game system configuration, and classes with spellcasting or manifesting now reference their spell list. This helps with autocompleting known spells on the character sheets.
  • Special magic options for caster classes can now reference an extra spell list. This is primarily used for Psions, as domains and bloodlines will be handled differently.
  • Corrected the casing of the ability checks and the custom checks. This makes "strength check" be correctly shown as "Strength check", to be in line with the saves and skill names.

Visual Tweaks

  • (Community suggestion) The character overview now lists your own characters first, before any other players' characters. This helps to make navigating to the wiki and characters sheets of your characters a little quicker.
  • Renamed the "Face values" freeform dice rolling to "Any dice" to clarify what it does. This helps if you just want to throw some dice.

Chat

  • The sidebar now shows the number of players in each room between parenthesis directly following the room name.
  • The sidebar now dims rooms without any people in them, to make it easier to see which rooms are in use.
  • The rooms in the sidebar now display links for those players that have put on a mask with a link. This makes it easier to quickly open all character pages for those playing in the room.
  • Time spans are now ordered in a 'most recently ended first' fashion. This makes it so that the freshly ended time spans are at the top of the list, which means that just-finished adventures are near the top (together with ongoing adventures).
  • Each room can now be configured as to whether activity in the room produces time spans or not. This allows you to configure your campaign in such a manner that some rooms (such as the Lobby) do not contribute to the time spans to keep the time span view managable.
  • You can now jump from the a time span into the archive to the start of the span and to the end of the span. This helps to quickly look at the first few messages where the storyteller might have given some OOC information on the adventure, and the last few messages that might contain reward notes or other relevant information.
  • Both chat rooms and private conversations are now always scrolled to the newest message if you switch to their tab. This is an experiment and we would very much like to hear your feedback on how this works for you.
  • Added a chat Archive index, which allows you to find the archives for removed permanent and temporary rooms. The archive can be accessed via the menu by hitting 'Show Menu' while in the chat.

Fixed Bugs

  • (Community report) Fixed an issue with chat room ordering that caused rooms to ignore alphabetical ordering. Rooms in the same group are now correctly ordered on alphabet in the sidebar.
  • (Community report) Fixed a bug that broke the chat Time Spans view when people where having private converstations. This has been fixed and the time spans no longer break due to unrelated things.
  • (Community report) Fixed a bug that caused net value on a pathfinder character sheet to get floating point artifacts, leading to values such as 8000.0000000001. This has been fixed and no longer occurs.
  • Fixed a logic bug that prevented the granting of rewards from the Time Spans view when only gold or only experience was granted. This has been fixed, and anything granted will now correctly be applied to the character sheet.
  • Fixed a bug that broke the Schemas activity feed. This has been fixed and the feed now works again.
  • Fixed an issue that caused all namespaced and the chat index to be editted when the main campaign configuration was changed. This has been fixed so they are only edited when you change who is allowed to view the full chat archives, or who has edit rights for what namespace.
  • Fixed a bug that caused already existing wikipages that are made playable to not gain the "Protected" status because their edit permissions were not automatically restricted. This has been fixed, and making an existing page playable now correctly makes them protected if they were not.
  • Fixed a styling bug that caused the green status updates after configuration changes and such to be squished against the menu header. This has been fixed, and the messages have some spacing between themselves and the menu.
  • Fixed a visual bug caused by having no special magic options entered at all. This has been fixed, and no longer causes visual issues.
  • Fixed a bug that caused your pathfinder character's net value to be calculated incorrectly if had multiple of the same item. This has been fixed and your net worth will be updated the next time you edit your character sheet.
