Changelog 2020-07-31

This week we have added numerous improvements to the Pathfinder game system support, listed below in their totality. We have also made some minor changes to the internals of RPGpad, which have been omitted from the changelog.

This week's blog post highlights the thoughts and philosophy behind the new Sheet Verification for Pathfinder sheets.

Pathfinder

  • Attacks have been improved to have more structured damage and critical information. They now also features an Extra Damage field for damage that is not multiplied in the case of a critical hit.
  • Races can now have racial traits configured in the game system configuration. These appear under the new dropdown in the race section of your sheet and can be toggled on or off for your character.
  • Certain features that were previously set by character race (such an extra favoured class or bonus skill points) are now set by racial traits, and thus can be enabled or disabled by toggling the relevant racial trait
  • Races can now also have alternate racial traits, as used in the Advanced Players Guide for example. You can configure which base racial traits they replace as well.
  • Classes can now have variants set. You can set the name of the variant type (Archetypes, Bloodlines, Mysteries, etc) and define which options are available. This is purely cosmetically for the time being
  • Languages are no longer selected in a dropdown but now use the new autocomplete feature.
  • Your sheet also no longer becomes invalid if a language you have is removed from the game system configuration

Pathfinder: Dice rolling

  • The new d20 Attack roll mechanic has been added, which now allows you to make freeform attack rolls, ad-hoc attack rolls for your characters, and attack rolls as defined on your character sheets.
  • The dice roller has learned how to get several other combat-related rolls from your Pathfinder character sheet: initiative checks, combat maneuvers, Caster level checks.

Pathfinder: Sheet Verification

  • Sheet verification for Pathfinder was significantly expanded upon:
    • Race Traits are now checked to see if multiple alternate racial traits replace the same base racial trait.
    • You are now notified if none of the enabled alternative racial traits disable a base racial trait but it is set to disabled.
    • Class variants are checked against the list of possible variants configured for that class.
    • The sheet check now notifies you if you over or underspent on skill points.
    • You are warned if a skill is not listed in the game system config.
    • You are warned if a skill has specialties but you don't list any, or vice versa if you list a specialty but none are configured for the game system.
    • You are warned if your skill points in a skill exceed your level.
    • If any untrained skills are missing from the sheet, you are notified, as the dice roller uses your sheet to be able to roll that skill.
    • Languages are now checked against the list in the game system configuration.
    • The Special abilities list is checked for duplicate entries. You probably don't need Darkvision twice.
    • Traits checked against system config list.
    • Traits are checked to make sure all are from different trait categories.
    • Equipment is checked versus configured values to ensure the correct weight, value etc are set.
    • Armour and shields are checked versus the configured values to ensure the correct ACP, Spell Failure, etc.
    • Notice given if you are encumbered over your armour rating.
    • A Warning is given if you are wearing more than one suit of armour or wielding more than one shield.
    • Spellcasting and psionic bonus caster levels are now checked against available bonus caster levels to see if you are due any additional ones or if you list too many.

Fixed Bugs

  • (Community Report) Fixed the Pathfinder character sheet to also list Dodge bonus as a valid bonus type for save modifiers.
