Merry Christmas!

This week’s blog is a bit earlier than usual due to tomorrow being Christmas. With it, we are releasing another upgrade for World of Darkness, in particular the simplification of the dice rolling mechanics. Many different World of Darkness games have their own dice systems, which are very similar at their core but differ subtly in their details — as a result, it is not uncommon to use one or more house rules in regards to the dice either.

The new system allows you to easily select from three common ‘main’ dice rolling schemes: the original world of darkness model, the new world of darkness model, and the exalted model. From there, you can further adjust the details of your system, such as changing to 9-again for more epic campaigns or setting the base difficulty a bit higher for a more gritty world. All the old options you had available are still there, just some of them are hidden behind the advanced tab.

Additionally, this selection can be made right when you are creating your campaign, so it should be easy to use if you start a new game! This and several other bugfixes and updates are listed in this week’s changelog.

This update will also be the last to be released this year as we will be taking the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. The next blogpost will be on January 1st and will look back at some of the upgrades made in the past year. Even though we will not be developing, rest assured that we’ll be watching the site to make sure everything keeps running smoothly!

RPGpad wishes you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and we hope that 2021 will be a healthy and fun-filled new year for all of you!
