After lightning flashes were seen just above the horizon, from viewpoints at the Docks, the sea level suddenly dropped. Less than a minute later, a wave, just a bit higher than the seawall hit the coast. Water sloshed over the wall and into the streets, fortunately only to a depth of six inches at most. Many ships took minor damage as they tore at their moorings and some loose containers were washed out to sea.
Once the wash flowed back into the sea, many of the buildings had to be cleaned as debris and detritus was left behind. Anything left on the floor was soaked.
Obviously something had happened out in the middle of the harbour.
A bit later on, news from the Ivory Tower, revealed that the wave had come from somewhere in the harbour and was caused by a collapsing ritual. An investigation was underway to find out who was responsible and bring them to Tower Justice for reckless use of magic and endangering lives.
