The Siege that enclosed the city for so long has finally been lifted, and the orcish army defeated. So much happened on that one day that people are still trying to take inventory of what happened.
What is clear is that early in the morning, the entire orc horde attacked the walls, pushing a siege tower while the entire horde climbed the walls and battered through the gates. Though not clear at the time, the orcs appear to have decided their assault for a simple reason: the Ecclesian Cavalry had arrived, forcing the orcs to either attack now or be crushed on two sides.
But that was hardly all there was to it. Underneath the city, digging and mining activity had taken place, and part of the city wall collapsed under the effort, causing major damage and allowing the orcs - who by that point had already penetrated the defenses in part - full access to the city. Chaos ensued, some of it even reaching the Central Quarter, as defensive structures were torn down and dragons had their own internal struggles on full display.
Despite the heroics of many though, the city was soon overwhelmed, orcs setting fire to buildings as defensive pockets formed wherever possible, trying to hold out and deal with the countless wounded and dead. The hold was not hopeless though, as Ecclesian Crusaders started pouring into the city to reinforce the valiant defenders, more and more forces linking up and starting to clear the streets.
By this time, the naval blockade was finally broken by the Silver Rain Republic fleet - which charged quite the price for this feat - though no small measure of aid was given by the cities own forces, including the slaying of the Sea Serpent!
Unlike the Doge and his fleet, the Druids committed their full forced right from the start, defending the city and its people with their full might, though not without taking losses. It is likely their heroics will influence what will come next.
Right now, the city is still in chaos, some left over pockets of orcs being cleared by a cooperation of people from every part of the city, and the Ecclesian crusaders. A unity of purpose seems to have swept over the city to get revenge on the creatures that caused so much havoc and make sure they will never rise to this level of danger again.
Fires are still being put out and noble Houses as well as families alike are taking stock of their losses. For one thing is clear: many a hero fell in defense of the city.
The DM team will need a bit of time to fully process everything and make sure everyone is properly rewarded for their heroics.
The events of the siege and your successes (and failures) will also change the face of the city. Since we did not know ahead of time what you would do and how successful you would be, we will need a bit of time to access and discuss, so please bear with us for a bit while we get everything sorted!
