Character Sanction: Vaelion Atianna
Background Writeup for the Adoption
Vaelion Tideborn’s past is as tumultuous as the sea he calls home. Found adrift as a young Aventi, the sole survivor of a pirate raid on a Mer Kingdom trading vessel, he was taken in by House Atianna, a noble family known for their dominance of Duirt’s Western Docks and their ventures across the Silver Rain Republic’s waters. Though some in the family viewed him as an outsider, Marcus Atianna recognized the boy’s potential. Vaelion’s innate connection to the ocean, combined with a resilience that allowed him to thrive where others might falter, made him an ideal candidate to serve the house’s maritime interests.
Raised aboard Atianna ships, Vaelion grew into a formidable warrior, adapting to the life of the sea with ease. His natural swimming ability, combined with his mutagenic alchemical transformations, made him a living weapon both above and below the waves. As a member of the Atianna fleet’s elite ship guards, he gained a reputation for his ferocity in combat, often plunging into enemy-infested waters to strike from the depths or scaling enemy vessels during raids. His ability to heal from injuries that would fell ordinary men, paired with the monstrous strength of his mutagenic transformations, turned the tide of countless skirmishes in favor of House Atianna.
Vaelion now serves as a guardian of the Atianna fleet, protecting their cargo and ships from rival houses and pirates alike. He is often the first to leap into action, defending the house’s interests with ruthless efficiency. Whether reclaiming stolen goods, boarding enemy ships, or engaging in underwater sabotage, Vaelion is the embodiment of the Atianna motto: “The Sea Gives, The Sea Takes.” His presence on the battlefield is a stark reminder to House Atianna’s enemies that the tides are not to be trifled with, for beneath the waves, Vaelion Tideborn waits.
