I am starting a new storyline! The story will revolve around a new Ecclesian military unit, and will include their growth and training into an elite fighting force for an undisclosed but important purpose. The PCs will be members of this military unit and will - after completing their basic training - be sent to perform missions for the greater good of all mankind (and elfkind, dwarfkind, etc)
Now, when I say "military unit", I am not joking. Characters will be given uniforms, they will be issued standardized equipment and they will be expected to follow orders. There will be a drill sergeant shouting at them.
In return, you will not just get access to a hopefully great story arch, but you will also be given the support of the Ecclesian military forces, which may include access to special equipment and magic within the context of missions and occasionally outside. And glory, there'll be lots of that to be gained... at least if you can make it through basic training.
Character Expectations
- This adventure is intended for characters between level 6 and 8 in the Low level range, but that may expand to Mid level as characters in the group grow, or if we have a lot of Mid level characters willing to sign up
- Characters should be neutral or good aligned. Evil is not well suited for this story. While they need not be lawful, they should at least be open to a lawful environment and able to operate in a military hierarchy
- Characters should at least be positive towards Eccles and Ecclesia. It is not mandatory to be a member of the religion, but highly recommended and you may face pressure to convert
- Both female and male characters are welcome for this story. If you join as a female character, expect that fact to play a role in the story
- If your character is not a fighter, they may have to use equipment they are not proficient with. This means they will suffer penalties on some missions
- Your character will join the army. Their job will be set to Military Commission and they will earn weekly income accordingly
- This also means your character will have to act within the rules set for them by the military outside of adventure time - such as when roleplaying or joining other adventures, and may be held to account if they do not
Player Expectations
- If you join, please show up for adventures and be on time. You should at least make the sessions on the 23rd, 30th and 7th to make sure you have a good foundation for the story.
- Players will be expected to remember their role in various plans and maneuovres. If you mess up because you OOCly didn't remember that "Flank right!" means you hold the line while your party member charges on the right, you will ICly be held to account.
- If you miss a session due to an emergency or otherwise, be sure to get your fellow soldiers to teach you any of the tactics you missed so you are up to date for the next adventure.
- Since there will be a lot of combat, you should pretype your actions, take them expediently and yield your turn swiftly. If you take too long, your character will be skipped in the init and there will be IC consequences to the hesitation
- You will be asked to change your avatar as part of this storyline
- This is my first time running a story of this nature, and I have great plans, but if you are not having fun, let me know so I can make adjustments
Other Notes
- This story will be ran every other Friday at (an hour earlier than my normal time). Adventures will run no later than , but I expect most scenes to end by
- The first adventure will be on the 23rd of April. To get the story in gear, I will run an additional session for this story on the 30th, so that means there will be adventures on April 23rd, April 30th and May 7th, and then May 21st, June 4th, etc.
- At the start, this story has room for between 3 and 5 PCs. If I get fewer than 3, I won't run it. If I get more than 5, I may reject characters or make other arrangements. Players may only join with one PC
- For the first three sessions, I will not allow characters outside the signed up group to join. After, if there are fewer than 5 active players, I will occasionally allow other PCs to guest-star.
