It's hard to play an RPG without some sort of meta goal or reward, and we don't expect you to do that here. We use a money system, and we use a character advancement system. The money system is very obvious. we use USD currency and there is a spot on your character sheet to track that.
Advancement however works a little differently. you are awarded advancement points, and can spend them to raise your character up. Currently the Rank-cap on the game is 5. That doesn't mean that we will never see 6 (Or more), it just means we are giving from 2 to 5 to see how advancement works, and if we can handle that sort of power level.
When you want to spend advancement points, you must see a Narrator, and have them make the edits to your sheets. You may spend them at a rate of 1 x current rank x the level you want to buy. So if you want to bring your rank 2 character's Melee from 4 to 5, you must spend 10 advancement points (1x2x5=10) Traits are bought at 5 x rank. So your rank 2 character can purchase a trait for 10 advancement points.
You can buy tags a ta rate of 2 advancement points per tag, and you can remove a tag for 1 advancement point.
Powers are bought at a rate of 10 x rank (For Basic), or 15 x rank (For Non-Basic)
Rank is bought at 50 x rank going into, PLUS you must meet all of the caps of your current rank, Such as 5 more Attribute points and the number of powers you should have. A chart for advancement is below.
Current Rank | Attributes Needed | Attribute Cap | Powers Needed | AP Cost |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 5 | 4 | 4 | 50 |
2 | 10 | 5 | 8 | 100 |
3 | 15 | 6 | 12 | 150 |
4 | 20 | 7 | 16 | 200 |
5 | 25 | 8 | 20 | 250 |
The pattern so far is expected to continue when and if we raise the cap.
