Attack at the gate fended off

No tags

Rumors spread about another attempt on the gate. At the time the gate was manned mostly by volunteers and Privates/recruits. A warden Private happened to catch the attack coming, goblins on Wolves. Easily half a dozen or more. It was their misfortune that one of the Vanguard recruits happened to be a scion of the House Frostveil. He rode out to meet the Goblins, Frosthaven flag flying high, and shouted encouragement to the valiant defenders, giving them heart to face down the monsters. In the end only a single wolf managed to get away, all the riders and most of the mounts slaughtered in front of the gates, and though some wounds were seen, not a single defender fell. Lord Frostveil rode along the wall congratulating all the brave defenders, flag held high and proud, though stained in goblin blood and torn from combat. At the gates, his horse, I've heard him called Valens, reared up majestically, caught in the firelight like you'd see in a painting, apparently you nearly forgot he had a rider, so fine a picture.

Another overwhelming victory for the good guys. Imagine if the monsters had to go up against seasoned veterans.
