The Chicago Loop is the central business district of Chicago, on the shores of Lake Michigan and forming the center of downtown Chicago.

It features many large businesses, offices, hotels, restaurants and theaters and most of the cities famous attractions are located in the Loop.

The loop is bounded to the west and north by the Chicago River and 12th street to the south, but its most clear marking is the Union Loop which runs around the area.
