Chi, sometimes called ‘life energy’ is the energy that animates the bodies of all living creatures. It is unclear where Chi comes from, and even whether creatures live because they have Chi or have Chi because they are alive, though it is clear that once it leaves the body, life ends.

Human Chi is exceptionally pure and they seem to posses it in far larger quantities than other species. Skilled humans can manipulate their Chi, giving them some unique abilities, and control seems to be related with control of the body.

Chi infuses the blood and Vampires are naturally capable of converting human blood into Vitae when they consume it. Once in Vitae form, it can more easily interact with the other mystical energies. Because Chi is directly connected to the physical body, incorporeal beings are incapable of wielding it.

Some suggest that besides Chi, there also exists an anti-power known as Dark Chi or Anti-Chi, which interacts not with the living but the dead, allowing the corpses of the dead to be animated. It is unclear whether this is truly a different form of Chi, a sort of negative absence of Chi or perhaps a unique interaction between Arcana and Chi.
