Polak Saltis, the captain of the Nereus appears at first glance to be a jovial fisherman, and is known for his friendly smile and positive attitude.

In sharp contrast though, his real job is running the Whalers, a group of rum runners smuggling booze in from Canada, and he is said to be responsible for several brutal murders involving a large meat hook.
