This week we put a lot of effort into provisionally integrating dice rolling support into the Chat. It is now possible to roll dice in the chat, and this supports all features already supported in the forums. In the coming weeks we will review the dice rolling infrastructure, and revision where needed. Furthermore, we have also enahced the World of Darkness character sheets even further with a new house rule, and attribute notes.
This week's blog post is, sadly, the same as last week's: Force of Nature NPCs. Details about this can be found in the blog post.
Chat
- Rethought layout of message inputs and user interaction of chat rooms. The new message entry and mask switching method is easier to discover and understand, and allows for more complex options to be added in the future.
- Switching masks is now done through the button with the Masks icon, and the dice roller is activated with the dice button. This makes the two major features of roleplay integration into the chat more easily accesible to everyone.
- The expand/collapse button now provides more options, and displays labels for the mask and dice buttons, as well as the name of your current mask. Additional room options and entering special messages will also be possible via this "more options" display in the future.
- Added dice rolling to the chat! (Note that this is a beta-version of the integrated dice roller. We will review the dice roller mechanic in the near future.)
Dice Rolling
- If there was only a single option for the freeform roll, it is automatically picked instead of requiring the user to take an additional action.
- Reworked some of the D3 dice roll entry as well as the way rolled dice are displayed to fit into both the chat and the forum with a single layout.
- Reworked display of results of WoD initiative (both freeform and for a character) to more clearly state that it is an initiative roll.
- Reworked the WoD dice roll entry as well as they way rolled dice pools are displayed to fit into both the chat and the forum with a single layout.
- The WoD dice roller now takes into account all abilities a character has ranks in, instead of only the global abilities shared by all creature types.
- The WoD dice roller now displays abilities that have "+1 diff" as their zero handling as such.
- Note: The dice roller does not yet apply difficulty modifiers originating from 0-rank abilities. Players will have to modify the difficulty by hand for now.
World of Darkness System
- Manual abilities can now be enabled/disabled via by house rule. This helps with keeping the character sheet simple when the manual abilities are not necessary.
- Added a "Notes" field to all Attributes to help with the tracking of attribute specializations and other notes. This makes them more similar to the Abilities, which helps players do things in a uniform way.
Fixed Bugs
- (Community report) Fixed a serious bug that prevented people from posting in the community forums. This has been fixed now, and we will reach out to those bug reports we asked for additional information!
- Fixed a bug that caused the forum thread post editor to no longer automatically select the most recently used mask upon opening. This has been fixed, and it now selects the most recently used mask again.
- Fixed a bug that caused prevented the chance roll dice rule for World of Darkness from working properly. This has been fixed, and chance rolls are now correctly displayed.
- Fixed an issue that cause the WoD dice rolls to lack the correct character attribution or freeform marker. This has been fixed.
