This week's log brings several quality of life features and lots of small tweaks and improvements. Also, once again, a thank you to Pixie for suggesting character backlinks. As always, we greatly appreciate any feedback we receive!
Posting masks
- The forums now show masks instead of player names in "last post by" links in both the forums overview and the thread listing. This helps with quickly spotting which characters are active.
- In all threads where you have already posted with a mask, the most recently used mask is now automatically selected for replies at the bottom of the thread. You can still switch to another mask, but this will most likely select a useful mask and save you some time.
- You can now create custom masks by selected the (new custom mask) option from the mask selection box. Custom masks require a title. Optionally, you can add an image and a link to a wikipage, thread, character (or even forum, or wiki) if this would be useful.
- Custom masks are remembered within the thread (separate for each player), allowing storytellers (and players as well) to quickly switch between a few NPC masks as necessary.
- Custom masks can be editted when editting a post, which "updates" the mask for that post and future posts, this allows you to correct mistakes (such as making a wrong link). It also allows you to perform "face reveals" and other dramatically apropriate mask changes.
- Used masks are now listed at the top of the thread in the thread participants listing, which gives a quick view of who's in there with what character.
Forum
- Post styling is slightly adjusted to have a better visual separation between two posts. This improves the readability of the thread as a whole.
- Forum posts detailed meta data (the author, time of post, possibly the last editor and the time of that edit), as well as the post actions, can now be viewed by clicking the (...) button at the top-right of each post.
- Forum posts with masks now "take off their mask" when viewing the post's details and action buttons. This allows you to more quickly identify which player actually put on the mask, and helps keep In Character and Out Of Character seperated.
- Editing a thread will now also allow you to edit the first post of the thread in the same action, this makes thread creation and thread editing act in roughly the same way. It is still possible to edit just the first post by simply hitting the Edit action on the post itself.
- Forum create and Forum edit screens have been cleaned up a little. They now feature a small image preview (at the same size as the image in the actual forum overview), and have some explanation of what the configuration options actually do.
Characters
- As suggested by Pixie we have added an automatic link going from a character's setting page back to the character sheet. This makes it easier to quickly have a look at a character and quickly have a peek at their sheet as well.
- Polished the layout of the D3 system character sheets to be more in line with the other character sheets, and the way lists of things with images, names, and descriptions are displayed in other places.
- Tweak the display of Vampire: the Masquerade character sheet notes to be clearly distinguished as such. They now have a header, and they no longer resemble and "Add Thing..." placeholder.
Other
- Newly created campaigns are now created with better default start pages for the Setting, Rules, and Notes namespace. No more red links that sort-of work, but good working green links that clearly show how to make links to "special pages" yourself.
- Improved how the platform is updated, which means that forced refreshes should no longer be necessary after this update. (With the exception maybe of a single forced refresh to get this update...)
- Improved the error message text when your connection with RPGpad is interrupted, as well as the messages to indicate that you are trying to upload an image that is too large for RPGpad to handle.
- Improved account settings: changing your password now requires you to enter your old password. This prevents people from walking up to your device and simply changing your password.
