Changelog 2020-05-01

This week we put our efforts into polishing and improving the chat, as well as even more improvements to the World of Darkness system.

Masks

  • The mask selection preview for player characters, NPCs, and reusable custom masks now links to the page associated with the mask.

Chat

  • Improved layout and styling of the chat sidebar to support longer names and more rooms. This also makes the sidebar switchable between Rooms/Players view, while always keeping active private conversations visible.
  • Improved layout of chat messages themselves by cleaning up the left margin, and moving the timestamps over the the right side of the chat log.
  • Ensured that the messages in the chat room start filling the chat log from the bottom, which makes them easier to follow since they do not start "moving the wrong way" once the chat is long enough to scroll in.
  • Increased the duration that custom masks are remembered in chat. Custom masks used in a room are now remembered for up to 2 weeks before getting removed from the custom mask dropddown for that room.
  • Changed the way the message input form is laid out and updated the location of the mask selection button. The new layout presents a more consistent interface and improves the separation between the new message input and the messages log.
  • All links in the chat now open in a new tab, preventing you from being janked out of the chat by clicking a link. This is holds true for the menu as well, if shown. The only link exempt from this is the Campaign name in the top left in full-screen chat, which allows you to leave the chat.

World of Darkness

  • Abilities are now always sorted in alphabetical order. This makes it a bit easier to handle the game system configuration.
  • Players can now add custom abilities to a character sheet. This makes it easier to support things like professional abilities, or extensive crafting abilities.
  • Preloads are disabled for now while we work on several changes to the character sheets. They will be reworked and re-enabled once the character sheets have had this round of improvements.
  • The game system configuration can be navigated more easily using the keyboard. Several fields have learned to understand the Enter key as jumping to the next field, or extending the list of things with one more thing.
  • Changed the Rituals section of the character sheet to no longer state "Level" but "Rank".

Fixed Bugs

  • (Community report) Fixed a bug that caused very long lines of text to break the layout, if those lines did not contain traditional word breaking opportunities. Examples of things that broke are very long links, or absurdly long words. This has been fixed now in various places.
  • (Community report) Fixed a bug that caused campaigns to register as having Unread things even though no unread things could be found. This has been traced to the system not correctly handling the removal of threads and forums marked as unseen. This has been fixed, and campaigns will now correctly show "Unread" only if you can actually see the thing that is unread.

World of Darkness Addendum

  • Specific Abilities can now listed for specific creature types. This makes it easier to mix the various World of Darkness books who's character sheets are not always fully consistent
