Changelog 2018-08-31

We finished the tagging update!

But, due to me literally having to run away now to get to a roleplaying game on time, I'll post the extensive changelog tomorrow!

Tags

  • Tags are now a thing!
  • You can simply start using tags. It is not necessary to explicitly create tags.
  • Once you have tagged a wiki page or forum thread you can view the tag by clicking on it. This brings you to the tag page.
  • Tag pages list the introduction of the Setting and Rules pages with the same name. This makes it easy to separate setting and rules information.
  • Tag pages also list all forum threads and wiki pages that are tagged with that specific tag.
  • If the automatic setting and rules page displays are not enough, you can create the tag explicitly and add your own tag description, which will be displayed above any other things on the tag page. This allows you to add some notes that are not really well-suited for any other place.
  • Explicit tags can also be given extra names. Extra names are like aliases in that they all refer to the same tag. Unlike aliases, it is not possible for two tags to have the same extra name—this prevents the situation where a wiki page is tagged with some name and the system cannot decide which tag you actually meant.
  • The list of all used tags is also available. Currently this overview is not yet available via direct link, but can be reached by either going to "https://rpgpad.com/c/(yourcampaign)/tags/" or by simply clicking on any tag, and using the breadcrumbs to navigate to "Tags"

Wiki

  • Tags are no longer part of the "custom data" where you add an image, description, and possible fields for specific types.
  • Wiki pages can now be given tags directly. Tags on wiki pages are displayed in the infobox if the page has one because it has a description, image, or some specific type. If there is no infobox, they are displayed at the start of the page for now.

Forum

  • Forum threads can now be given tags when creating them. You can also change a forum thread's tags by editing it. We are currently debating how (and if) we should go about adding/removing tags with normal posting.
  • Forum descriptions are now correctly parsed. This allows you to add links, bold text, and other markup to the forum description text. If you had some markup in your forum description, you should do a quick edit-and-save on that forum to get the system to recognize the markup.

Update Notes

  • We upgraded all campaigns to use the new tag system. In the case of tagged wiki pages, this means that we moved the tags from the infobox to the wiki page itself. If you made extensive use of tagging, you might want to review the new situation.
